Twenty-first century is an era of electronic business, when on-line shopping is extreme popular. With the rapid development of internet, people turn from desktop computers to portable intelligent devices(e.g., smartphone, PDA), which possess high-speed processing power and image recognition ability, enabling users to work on e-files, exchange messages and do shopping online wherever they are on bus, on the subway or in the street. Also these devices become a necessity in people?s daily life by providing an innovative platform for financial management.Mobile application for personal finance management has become more and more popular in recent years. It allows people to transfer money, pay everyday bills, even socialize through internet at anywhere and anytime. Though there is a large number of applications such this available in application stores, few of them have enough measures to ensure the security of their users. Most applications simply use verification code sent through mobiles or e-mails to judge whether a transaction is normal. Obviously this way is not safe at all: once a user lost his or her cellphone then he or she would lose control over the user?s account. In this paper we design a new personal finance management application in which we improve the transaction-verification process: we build a probabilistic model at the server end which detects the normalityof each transaction based on its amount and the time when it occurs. When the normality level of a particular transaction is under a pre-set threshold the transaction would be considered as ?abnormal? and rejected. Also we implement a clustering algorithm on the server to find users who have similar money consumption pattern. With the clustering algorithm, the application can recommend friends to users based on their monthly expenditure habits.
