As our human society has entered an age of highly developed information technology, all kinds of information in our society is playing an important role in our human life, commercial and even political and military activities as an important resource of society. The security of information is also being higher than before for any industries.The traditional technology of information encryption makes the secret information incomprehensible. But there is a problem which is the secret information will be exploded in the process of transmission for it is unable interpretation, so it is more easier be attacked. Pose a threat to the security of secret information. But the technology of information hiding is different with the traditional technology of information encryption. The secret information is embedded in an ordinary file and it is invisible when it is being transmitted.H.264/AVC is the newest video coding and decoding standard. In the process of the development it has been widely supported and has been paid more attention by most video providers. All of this is for that the standard of H.264/AVC has a higher coding efficiency, low transmission rate, strong ability to adapt to the network and fault tolerant ability to recover And it has become the most common way to popular video technology. So, in the research of video information hiding technology process, combined with the H.264/AVC standard has become one of the hottest researches in the field of modern information security.This paper focuses on the research of the key technology and basic principle of H.264/AVC video coding and decoding standard. Also has an detail analysis of the features of coding process based on the motion vector of the macroblock coding prediction in the inter-frame encoding. Then proposes an improved algorithm of video information hiding based on an fast search for motion vector. The algorithm through the hexagon search algorithm, takes little time to find the motion vectors that are suitable for hiding information in the reference frames. Then select two specific bits from the horizontal motion vector and the vertical motion vector based on the genetic algorithm to exchange with secret information bits. Next, if the changed motion vector is still bigger than the threshold, transform and quantization the motion vector. In the receiver, when it receives the sequence of video frames changed, it will extract the secret information form the motion vector that is bigger than the threshold.The method introduces the hexagon search algorithm in the information embedded process, on one hand, it improve the embedding rate. On the other hand, using genetic algorithm to select the position to exchange with secret information bits from the motion vector is verity. So it improve the security of information hiding.
