Nearly 30 years in the new period, optoelectronic technology which combined by the photon technology and electronic technology becomes the focus of research in this century, it has advantages over microelectronics technology in speed, capacity and loss, because of these significant characteristics it rises to be the important pillar of information technology in today’s society. During the key rising 30 years, the photoelectric detection devices and technologies which represented especially by lasers, detectors and LIDARs developed most extensively and profoundly. Meanwhile, Physics and the history of science and technology are crossing constantly, but research on the history of optoelectronic devices and its technologies is not very perfect a present in the world. To enrich the content of history of science and technology, also to provide a different perspective for all kinds of research personnel, the history of optoelectronic devices and technology in nearly 30 years should be studied. Three typical devices: laser, photoelectric detector and a typical photoelectric detector system—LIDAR are selected from a number of optical devices which obtain great development in the new period to make a certain analysis and research on the development of optoelectronic technology in the new period from the perspective of history of science and technology.Firstly, in terms of the history of lasers and its technologies, the invention of lasers is reviewed primarily. On the basis of this, the development process of different types of lasers from the classification of lasers in the new era is combed clearly; Then, the new development characteristics of laser and its technology in the new period is analyzed; Laser industry drives to maturity gradually and creates incomparable social value for the human society in the new period, but exists many shortages in the real situation, so in the final the characteristics and problems existing in current laser industry are researched. The author expects to present the panorama and the problems of this technology and industry from the perspective of history of science and technology, and to guide the industry’s future development.Secondly, in the section of development history of the photoelectric detector and its technology, the author starts from the classification of the photoelectric detector, the overall development process of them in the new period is summarized; To deepen the targeted and depth of this article, then a typical photon detector—avalanche photodiode(APD) and a typical thermal photoelectric detector—uncooled infrared focal plane detector are selected to probe the evolution and development characteristics of them in recent years; Because the industrialization progress of photoelectric detector is slower than laser technology, so in the final the author focuses on the analysis of the current status of photoelectric detector and its technology industrialization, and predictes the future trend of development.Finally, in the aspect of development history of laser radar, the development process of laser radar of different scanning channels holistically in the new period is analyzed; On this basis, the hot spots of research in recent years are selected, such as synthetic aperture radar(SAL) and array staring imaging laser radar as the research focus, to study the development process and new features of these two aspects in the new period respectively. In the end, the interaction relationship between technology and human society: LIDAR technology how to promote the development of society and social factors on the laser radar technology proceeding from the theory of technical society are studied also.
