With the continuous development of communication technology, how to utilize the limited communication resource to improve spectrum efficiency, provide higher data transmission efficiency becomes a growing concern. Spatial modulation technique is presented in recent years, as a kind of low complexity of MIMO transmission mode, whose emergence is aimed to solve these problems, effectively avoiding the interchannel interference(ICI) and multiple antennas synchronization problems.In this paper, we study signal detection algorithm based on particle swarm optimization aigorithm in spatial modulation system. Firstly, traditional spatial modulation algorithms are simulated and compared with the performance of V-BLAST in MIMO system. In order to improve the performance of signal detection algorithms in spatial modulation systems, we propose an intelligent signal detection algorithm based on particle swarm optimization and put forward its improved algorithm. Efficient signal detection can be achieved by using particles’ intelligent searches. Unnecessary local convergence can be avoided by designing weight coefficients for traditional velocity updating formula to improve its performance. Convergence and complexity are analyzed and simulations with different antenna numbers and modulation schemes are executed. Results show that the improved algorithm excels the particle swarm optimization in bit error rate, convergence and computing complexity, all these make it an appealing detection method for spatial modulation receivers.Firstly, the principle and system model of MIMO and spatial modulation technology are introduced, as well as the development and research purpose of this paper. Then the system models, channel models and basic signal detection algorithms are analyzed respectively. Then the signal detection algorithm based on particle swarm optimization and its improved algorithm are proposed, whose simulations are under both traditional system and complex one. Finally the study of the channel estimation is studied in spatial modulation system, which makes the study more practical.
