Two Phenomena In The Flow Of Information Chinese PX Series Event(2007-2014) Propagation Process

PX, one of the most important raw materials in chemical production, which is also called paraxylene chemical project, indicates the chemical level of a certain country. PX project, namely the paraxylene chemical project, is closely related to a country’s production and its people’s life and even its strategy. PX production capacity and the level of self-sufficiency rate determine whether the size of the country’s chemical industry development will be controlled by other countries. As a large and fertile country with a large population, China used to enjoy a high speed of development on PX project during the first decade of the 20 th century, and PX productive capacity has once reached No.1 in the world. In the following several years, the market demand for PX rose up continuously while PX developing pace kept slowing down, the shortage situation appeared as a result. According to analysis, China has became the biggest consumer of PX in 2012 but at the same time PX project construction became harder, resulting in a low rate of 63% of China’s PX self-sufficiency.Various reasons are responsible to this embarrassing situation. According to statistic analysis on PX events by the news media between 2007 to 2014, negative emotions occupied 51.16% and the rate rose to 90.27% by 2014; while positive emotions rate dropped from 33.06% in 2007 to 9.73% in 2014; neutral emotions occupied the smallest proportion which was 15.78% in 2007 but 0% in 2014. Putting results as background, this paper attempts to research the reason why PX project has suffered a lot in China, to quest a way of scientific planning and reasonable settlement for PX project from the perspective of the flow of information dissemination. So as to propose more constructive advice based on a full understanding and clear recognizing of PX development history in China.The essay expands its study on the issue from two lines and provokes thinking by making a longitudinal comparison of the event’s development. First, compare the different manifestations of the same event during the same period between official information flow and civil information flow, and then to look further and review as the timeline goes, to summarize and rethink whether the social mass media and the government have learned a lesson from the similar events. Thus, to give more constructive suggestions.
