The generation of harmonic makes the power frequency voltage or current distortion, seriously endangering the normal operation of the power system and the safe use of electricity. In order to reduce the harmonic adverse impacts for industrial production and daily electricity brings, the most important thing is how to effectively process the harmonic. Active filter effectively overcomes the drawbacks of passive filter, the harmonic governance effect is more prominent.Shunt active power filter is a device that control harmonic current of electric power system. Its controlling method includes the detection of harmonic currents and instruction reference current tracking control. Through the research on the algorithm of ip-iq, an improved algorithm is proposed, at the same time, this paper put forward a kind of harmonic detection algorithm based on BP neural network. Hysteresis current control has the advantages of simple, rapid dynamic response. It’s a current tracking control algorithm widely used. On the basis of a modified ring width of hysteresis current control method, an improved variable band hysteresis current control method is proposed in this paper, while carried out the method for double hysteresis current control based on space voltage vector. By building an shunt active filter system MATLAB simulation model, experimental results demonstrated the ability of active power filter harmonic control system. Finally this paper introduced the hardware structure of control part of active filter, and the program design of active power filter based on DSP.
