Tunable optical fiber Fbray-Perot filter is one of the wavelength dependent devices, which has been widely developed in the field of optical fiber communication and optical fiber sensing. The Fiber Bragg Grating demodulation system based on tunable optical filter, is the most mature and the most widely wavelength demodulation scheme today, which can achieves picometers wavelength accuracy, and makes remarkable achievements in some areas. But, the tunable optical filter development, especially in the technology realization method, needs great improvement, comparing with the high technologies of the overseas. It mainly focus on the super fine processing technology and the temperature compensation performance of the device two aspects, and the commercialized products and technologies still mainly provided by the foreign countries.This paper proposes a new kind of tunable optical fiber filter structure scheme, on account of the difficulty of design and processing implementation, large insertion loss, sensitivity to the environment temperature and the high manufacturing cost, and carries on the theoretical and experimental research from the basic principle of design, structure design, optical coating processing and temperature compensation and so on.First, this paper has carried on the theoretical analysis to the characteristic parameters- finesse and peak transmittance from the tunable optical filter according to the basic principle and structure design in the second chapter and the third chapter, and then puts forward several methods to reduce the insertion loss. Secondly, according to the actual needs, it presents the tunable optical fiber filter design scheme, verifies the feasibility of solution by mechanical structure simulation, selects a piezoelectric driven ceramic with the suitable parameters, improves the reflectivity of the optical fiber end surface by vacuum evaporation. Finally, a temperature compensation scheme is proposed according to the specific structure of the filter.The main content of the fourth chapter is testing and analysis to the tunable optical fiber filter, which owns a free spectral range of 112 nm, finesse of 487 and the insertion loss of 2.75 d B. It is founded that the tunable optical filter based on piezoelectric ceramic drive although has certain hysteresis effect, but has a good repeatability, through the analysis and discussion for the experiment data. It is also concluded that the insertion loss increases linearly with the cavity length elongating and verify the feasibility of temperature compensation scheme at the last.Following the principle of assist theory design and the software simulation each other and confirming theoretical data and experimental data, the article makes scientific and objective description to the problems founded in the research work, and puts forward the solutions and verification results, which provides a certain basis for the research, and promotes the development of industry and technology.
