To address the growing problem of losing books, wrong shelf and crowding reading space, the Beijing Institute of Technology Library combines the automated storage and retrieval systems and radio frequency identification technology, using a book baskets, tooling plate and conveyor belts and other equipment made the new Closed-Shelf Stack. Based on this management system, we make some researches and implementations for the control system of Closed-Shelf Stack. This article briefly describes the the domestic and international aspects of the Closed-Shelf Stack of applied research, and status of the Closed-Shelf Stack in Beijing Institute of Technology. According to the book’s automatic circulation requirements, we made the control system architecture and the desigh of the module, as follows:(1) Books Borrowing involved- order processing, automatic circulation and other sub-module design ideas and concrete implementation.(2) Communication module within the system design and implementation.(3) Related to exception handling module design and some anomalies encountered. At last, the book selection process is time-consuming and inefficient. To address this problem, an improved genetic algorithm is used to optimize the selection of books. The experimental results show that this algorithm considerably improve book selection efficiency. Finally, a set of experiments designed to assess the efficiency of the subsystem, the results show that the system is effectively done and reached the preliminary design effect.
