Which is very difficult to making network game is that so many years development time, million of costs, and a large number of research and development personnels. Whether the development of stand-alone or network game project has very large probability of failure, because the program developers and the other developers of the game project are very different, especially art personnels and game designers. Also because of this, communication with the members in the game project is a big challenge. The developers of the game project lack a good game engine to coordinate and assist them to work well.Currently, to the popular network game engines, the features of which are too complex, and which the cost is too high to learn and use. The development process of the game is too lengthy. The resources of the game are too difficult to reuse. Aiming at these issues, combined with the comparative analysis of Yake, OGE and ISGD game engine which are currently popular and use OGRE as their graphics engine, this study chooses ISGD engine to simplify game development. This study will focus on the technology of ISGD2.0 to design and develop a network game engine, explan existing template mechanism of ISGD2.0, extend original template architecture, and put forward multi-template mechanism which is divided into the Parameters Template and Scene Template. Developers can customize the two king of template to save the resources of development, then can use multiple templates in the new game. It can enhance the reusability of game resources and reduce the workload and difficulty of the work of developers. Meanwhile referring ISGD1.5, this research will add networking functions in ISGD2.0, and propose the integration architecture of stand-alone and network game. It want to let developers build the roles in the stand-alone game and automatically convert driving source of the roles for the network game, so that the basic interactive objects of the network game can also be developed when the stand-alone game development is finished. It can reduce the difficulty on the development of network functions of network game, and shorten development time of developers.The research result has been applied to a cool running game project of a company, which effectively saves a lot of development time and development costs. Meanwhile it gives company’s game studioes one more choice to select network game engine, and has practical significance for the general development of network games.
