Wireless sensor network (WSN) as one of the most important technology in twenty-first century, shows a good application prospect in environment monitoring, military sensing, emergency medical, remote control of industrial and manufacturing, and other technical field. Wireless sensor network is based on a large number of remote distributed sensor nodes to monitor the target area or the target object. These nodes organize into a network by self-organizing. The information that the sensor collected are transmitted to the user eventually through multi hop transmission mode. Wireless sensor network has ability of dynamic expansion and self-organizing, but also with the characteristics of strong anti-jamming ability and so on, which provides a good solution for emergency communication in some disasters.Based on learning and studying of the wireless sensor network, wireless communication protocol and other related knowledge, the dissertation designs and implements wireless sensor node and gateway node from the angle of application system, which is suitable for life detection and personnel positioning in earthquake disaster environment, by the analysis and summary of domestic and oversea research on wireless sensor network. At the same time, according to the features of the system requires and the hardware of nodes, the dissertation designs the application of each module, and finally realizes the application of wireless sensor networks prototype system for earthquake disaster. In the process of the system design, the dissertation describes the hardware design of wireless sensor node firstly from four aspects, which includes processor module, wireless transceiver module, sensor module and power module, then introduces the hardware design of embedded gateway; Secondly, based on the hardware design of nodes, the dissertation describes the software design, which includes CC2430 system software, sensor data acquisition software, sensor node localization software, embedded gateway software and the server software in order to realize the effective application of the node, which are applicable to this prototype system. After be loaded into the corresponding hardware equipment, these software make all equipment communicate with each other to form a relatively complete wireless sensor network application prototype system. Finally, the dissertation summarizes the prototype system for earthquake disaster. And the subsequent research work is prospected.
