With the development of society, video surveillance has played a very important role in various industries. With the rapid development of computer, network, image processing and transmission technology, video surveillance technology has made great progress and High-Definition and networking trend has become more obvious. The third generation network video surveillance will gradually replace the "Analog-Digital" surveillance system and become the mainstream.This paper develops a High-Definition network video surveillance system, designs and implements the system from the hardware and software level, and makes effective improvements through analysis of system performance.This paper designs video transmission scheme of the High-Definition network video surveillance system, completes the framework design. It designs the private streaming media transmission protocol by analyzing the characteristics of streaming media transmission of the system, this makes the content management of streaming media and decoding streaming later become convenient. After analyzing the TCP/IP protocols and the surveillance equipment’s actual application scenarios, it designs and completes the system function of fast and stable streaming transmission and tasks processing by using TCP protocol between server and client. It implements the server software to fetch and dispatch streaming by using SOCKET communication mechanism, multi-threading mechanism, shared memory mechanism and I/O multiplexing technology. It implements the client software to receive real-time streaming, decode it and display.This paper makes completed research on the High-Definition network video surveillance system from streaming latency and CPU usage by using PTP(Precise Time Protocol) and LINUX Command TOP, including performance comparison of different concurrence and detailed latency distribution of one-streaming transmission. It helps the improvement of streaming server later by analyzing the reasons of transmission latency and high CPU utilization.Finally, this paper designs and completes the performance improvement scheme of the High-definition network video surveillance system. Based on the analysis of the system latency and CPU utilization, it improves the performance of system latency and CPU utilization by using the high-performance I/O event-driven model LIBEVENT network framework.
