Conformal antennas have some particular advantages, such as low-profile, reduced radar cross section, and increased scanning angles. In the aircraft structural design field, the needs of conformal antennas gradually increased. This thesis does a seriers of research work on conformal antenna array analysis and synthesis methods. This thesis proposes two kinds of modified conformal array analysis methods, which are superior to the conventional coordinate transformation analysis methods in many ways. Based on these two modified methods as well as the intelligent optimization algorithm and network programming technique, this study establishes a set of conformal array parallel analysis, synthesis and optimization system. Finally, for practical application demand, this paper proposes a modified MATLAB and HFSS collaborative simulation technique, which is more efficient and robust than conventional techniques.The first chapter briefly introduces the research background and progress of conformal antenna arrays, summarizes the analysis and synthesis methods for the conformal antenna arrays, and introduces the contents of each chapter arrangement.The second chapter mainly introduces the basic principles of the active element pattern method(AEP), gives the method of extracting the active element pattern, and introduces how to partition a large array into subarrays, and how to extract active element patterns from these subarrays.The third chapter mainly introduces three kinds of conformal array analysis methods. This chapter first introduces the analysis method of conformal arrays based on coordinate transformation, then provides two improved conformal array analysis methods, and finally, compares the efficiency and accuracy of these methods through some examples of conformal antenna arrays.The fourth chapter firstly introduces the basic principle and operation process of genetic algorithm(GA), particle swarm optimization algorithm(PSO), and multi-objective optimization algorithm. In addition, this chapter briefly introduces a modified MATLAB and HFSS collaborative simulation technique. Finally, combined with the conformal array analysis methods which are introduced in chapter 3, a conformal antenna array is synthesized using the intelligent optimization algorithms.The fifth chapter mainly introduces the parallel optimization simulation tool--SmartSim. This tool can greatly improve the calculation efficiency of optimization. Finally, an example of using SmartSim to optimize single folded slot antenna is given.The sixth chapter gives a summary of the whole dissertation, points out the deficiencies of conformal array analysis and synthesis techniques with future research topics suggested.
