With the development of modern science and modern technology, the Internet has become the public information infrastructure in most of the countries in the world. The Internet topology is the important information foundation of the computer network, it is the foundation of network management, data model, information collection and also the network security. Therefore, the Internet topology measurement is an inevitable process associated with the development of the Internet, it is the only way to grasp the internal mechanism and law of the Internet, and to provide scientific basis for the research of the other application development. In this context, the discovery of the objective network topology has attracted more and more attention.The Internet topology measurement is a systematic engineering, it need to collect a large amount of topology information to complete the topology recovery. The measurement nodes in the global scope complete the collection of the topology information, and through collecting the measurement data of diffrerent measurement nodes, the global Internet topologu information is obtained. In this paper, we design and implement a distributed IInternet topology measurement system according to the actual demand of the global Internet topology measurement. The system can measure ang collect the global topology information, at the same time, in order to understand and regulate the Internet better, the system also incorporates several important network performance measurement function. To sum up, the main work of this paper has completed the following aspects:(1) Design and implement a single node network measurement tool. A powerful single node network measurement tool can provide more effective data for the recovery of the Internet topology, it is the foundation of the Internet topology measurement system. Based on the research on the Internet topology recovery, we determin what information should collect to recover and analyse the Internet topology structure, and determin what function should the single node network measurement tool have. These functions include topology measurement function, load balancing route discovery function, packet loss rate measurement and delay measurement function, and we design and implement such a single node network measurement tool.(2) Design and implement a distributed IInternet topology measurement system. The architecture of the Internet topology measurement system is reasonable, which can provide good use for the user, and can measure and collect topology information efficiently. Based on the research on the network topology measurement system model, we determin what architecture should the network topology measurement system have, and determin what module should the network topology measurement system have. The network topology measurement system consists of measuring node, control center, the communication module between the control center and the measuring node, data storage module, and we design and implement such a network topology measurement system.(3) Carry on actual application of the network topology measurement system, and analysis of the results, including topology measurement on the China Education and Research Network, and the load balancing route discovery of two nodes on the PlanetLab platform, and the packet loss rate mesuremen of two nodes on the PlanetLab platform, and the delay measurement of two nodes on the PlanetLab platform. Packet loss rate and delay are measured every hour within 24 hours, each time we continue 1000 times to get the measurement results. Topology measurement on the China Education and Research Network is almost consistent with the actual topology, load balancing route measurement is the same with the commercial software, at the same time, the curves of the packet loss rate and delay changes with time within 24 hours are got.
