Carrier-Free UWB Radar, with its high range resolution, anti-jamming, strong penetrating and other advantages, has good practical value in both military and civilian. Besides the analysis of the carrier-free UWB Radar’s signal model, this thesis will study of the signal detection in-depth. The main works of this thesis are as follow:1. For carrier-free UWB Radar, the transmitted waveform and the scattering model of the target is analyzed in detail. Combined with the clutter model, the target model of the carrier-free UWB Radar is given.2. Studied and analyzed the radar signal detection algorithm based on Hough transform for carrier-free UWB Radar. In view of the traditional detection algorithm based on Hough transform is more difficult to solve the contradiction between the detection performance and the computational complexity, an improved detection algorithm based on the Hough transform is proposed according to the distance extended features of the carrier-free UWB Radar. Simulation results show that the computational cost is reducing about 45% under the condition of the small performance loss.3. Studied the pulse accumulation detection problem of the multiple echoes under the situation of range-walking. From the characteristics of the target echo and the movement characteristics of the target, two kinds of sliding window detection algorithm based on motion compensation is proposed. The former, basing on the similarity of the adjacent echo, will use the cross-correlation processing to align the multiple echoes. The latter will use the sliding window algorithm and the dynamic clustering algorithm to estimate the motion information that is utilized to compensate the multiple echoes. Their feasibility will be verified by the simulation results.4. Studied the Dynamic Programming-Track Before Detection algorithm(DP-TBD) for carrier-free UWB Radar. Since the energy expansion of the traditional DP-TBD algorithm, an improved DP-TBD algorithm combining with the data pretreatment and the direction-weighted algorithm is proposed. The simulation results show that the improved algorithm not only eliminate the false track generated by the energy expansion, but also increase the detection performance and the computation efficiency. Meanwhile, those three detection algorithm which are studied in this thesis are contrasted using the detection performance and the computation cost.
