Hidden and vitality in the battlefield are the biggest characteristic of passive localization technology under multi-platform. And this get great attention of the researchers. However, the traditional technology of passive localization has been unable to meet the requirement for targets localization accuracy. Especially, when the target distance is far, and the conditions is very harsh, the positioning accuracy is less than our requirements. So, to improve the positioning accuracy of passive localization in harsh conditions has become a hot research topic in the field.The new technology of passive localization under distributed phased-arrays is researched in this paper. And a method of the targets localization based on ESPRIT(estimating signal parameter via rotational invariance techniques) is proposed. The multiple targets can be located simultaneously in this method, and localization accurate. The main work of this paper includes:1. A single target localization method based on ESPRIT is proposed. Firstly, the searching spectrum function is deduced, and the process of this method is proposed for single target localization. And then the positioning performance of this algorithm is analyzed about the SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio), the radius of the lineup, the target distance and the number of array elements, the simulation shows that, the positioning is more accurately with the larger SNR, the greater radius of the lineup, the closer target, the more the number of array elements. In the end, the positioning performance between ESPRIT localization algorithm and DOA(Direction Of Arrival) localization algorithm are compared. The simulation shows that, the proposed method can obtain higher positioning accuracy than the DOA localization algorithm.2. A multi-target searching localization method is proposed based on ESPRIT. Firstly, the searching spectrum function of the multi-target searching localization is deduced, and the process of this algorithm is proposed. And then, the positioning performance of this algorithm is analyzed about the SNR, the radius of the lineup, the target distance and the number of array elements, the conclusion is similar to the single target localization, the positioning is more accurately with the larger SNR, the greater radius of the lineup, the closer target, the more the number of array elements. In the end, the impact on the number of targets for the positioning capability of the multi-target searching localization algorithm is analyzed.3. A multi-target matching localization method is researched based on ESPRIT. Multiple targets are separated in this method, through the technology of DOA matching, so the multiple targets localization can be converted to single target localization. This method reduces the amount of calculation and improve the positioning accuracy. The feasibility of the algorithm is proved through simulation, and the positioning accuracy is improved.
