Impedance tuner is a two-port device, and mainly used for electromagnetic transmission system. Its role is to appear at the junction of the electromagnetic wave transmission system or transmission line terminal impedance mismatch, keep the input of reflection is small. The quality of the impedance tuner is relative to the efficiency of the microwave systems, power transmission capacity and stability of the system, and relative to the microwave measurement error size and the level of measurement accuracy, and the quality of the quality of microwave components and other issues. Therefore, the impedance tuner is extremely important in microwave engineering, is a very important part of microwave system.Conventional waveguide impedance tuners usually use a single or multi-cylindrical tuning pins to achieve impedance deployment, They also use a shorted stub in the E-plane or H-plane to achieve impedance deployment, or use magic T to achieve impedance deployment. their main deficiencies is that the pins susceptance deficiencies lead to matching blind area in impedance deployment. The overall structure is three-dimensional, machining and assembly work is more complex. So with no matching blind, simple structure Impedance waveguide deployment will be focus in this thesis.Firstly, this thesis begins with the transmission line theory, simply introduces design basis of impedance tuner, and highlights various matching methods.Secondly, it introduces the working principle and design methods of H-T waveguide impedance tuner. it also designs and simulates H-T waveguide impedance tuners with one, two, three H-T shorted stubs, and gives the simulation results.Thirdly, it introduces the working principle and design methods of E-T waveguide impedance tuner. it also designs and simulates E-T waveguide impedance tuners with one, two, three E-T shorted stubs, and gives the simulation results.And then, it introduces the working principle and design methods of magic T waveguide impedance tuner. it also designs and simulates magic T waveguide impedance tuners with several magic T shorted stubs, and gives the simulation results.At last, This paper will propose and design a waveguide impedance tuner. It consists of three E-T shorted stubs and three H-T shorted stubs. Using the principle of quasi planar magic T to make the E-T shorted stub and H-T shorted stub be in the same plane. Therefore, this waveguide impedance tuner have a quasi planar structure. This waveguide impedance tuner divided into a flat plane and a fundamental part and six shorted piston. The entire deployment circuits distributes in the basic part, which makes the production, machining and device assembling greatly simplified.
