With future war environment increasingly complicated, electronic warfare platforms are often equipped with a variety of different functions of electromagnetic devices. This may result in impairment of mobility of the platforms, which could reduce its ability to survive in the complex electromagnetic environment. In addition, electromagnetic interference may exist between the electronic devices. To solve these problems, an integration equipment came into being. Radar and communications systems are the basic components of electronic warfare platforms. Therefore, integration of them both is exceedingly significant. Meanwhile, for civil use, cars exchanges security-related information with each other. Some security equipment, such as adaptive cruise control and brake assist system is closely related to radar technology. So radar and communication system would constitute a unique cost efficient platform for future intelligent transportation systemsIn this paper, the integration of radar and communication were studied on algorithms based on chirp signal and OFDM signal. In the system, radar and communication systems share one transmitter but their receivers are independent. The main contents are as follows.Chapter 1 & 2 briefly describes the research background and basic knowledge. On communications, Chapter 2 first discusses the fractional Fourier transform, which is an important tool for analyzing chirp signal. On radar, Chapter 2 gives a simple form of the radar equation, radar waveforms and the concept of waveform matched filter ambiguity function, which is used for analyzing radar detection performance for it can reflect the characteristics of the waveform and the corresponding matched filter. For the waveform study on chirp signal, Chapter 3 discusses coherent demodulation and non-coherent demodulation based on FRFT for up & down chirp and also frequency orthogonally mixed signal, and compares the performances of different demodulation method. For radar detection performance, Chapter 3 compares the ambiguity function of the mixed signal with single radar signal, coming to the conclusion that adding the communication signal has no influence on the radar detection performance. When using the integrated signal discussed in Chapter 3, the performance of both systems are not influenced. However, that both signal are transmitted at the same time means that there can be a reduction in radar range due to lower radar transmitting power. Thus, Chapter 4 studies two algorithms using only one signal for integration, but there is an obvious problem that the communication data rate is too low.To solve this problem, Chapter 5 researches the integration system model and parameters designing on the backgroud of V2 V. The ambiguity function of the OFDM signal is simulated, and the communication error rate performance of the system is given as well. All these show the OFDM with these parameters is suitable for integration.
