Wit h the ra pid de velopment of the Internet and video compre ssion te chnology,people are not satisfied wi th the boring text and image information from the Internet,the demand for audio, video and othe r multimedia i nformation is growing rapidly i n recent years. The traditional st reaming media system most using client / ser ver, that C /S mode, the server provi des a lot of ser vices, whi ch means the performance of the s ystem was direc tly determined by t he performance of the server. In the traditional s trea ming media server, each user uni t corresponds to one server. Whe n the numbe r of us ers increasing the burden on demand server, the high bandwidth re quirements and long service t ime will become inc reasingly important, e ven affects Inter net user expe rience, that is, the C/S mode stre ami ng media system was abandoned in the current large-scale st reaming media sys tem.In the pr ocess of design and implementation of streaming media on-demand s ystem(VOD), the wor k of this thesis ar e as follows: Firstly we anal yze the defects of exist ing model and proposes specific solutions. The system us es a combination of ASP+ SQL SERVER2005 te chniques were develope d. First, t he peer network file shari ng network protocol BITTORRENT Agreement(BT protocol) has been improved. The s ystem ca n be transfrom into a low latency, high ba ndwi dth and low server load VOD s ystem of P2 P stre aming media which was r unning on t he e xisting network of continuous. Firs t, t he streaming medi a technology was detailed de scribed from its basic aspects, transmission, t rans mission for mat s and transmission pr otocol s.We foc us on the relationship between P2 P networks and BT protocol be tween st reaming me dia technology, from theore tic al anal ysis based on the feasi bili ty of BT import in P2 P s trea ming medi a syst em. Secondly, according to t he modular design concept, the system consists media server, TORRENT server, WEB server and so on. By the entrance t o the s ite i n the form of servers to provide customers with system interface, the user can ac cess and play acc ording to the a ctual needs on t he streaming video program. Media s erver provides video streaming server, storage, vi deo, and ti mely response t o demand request, access control, and information exchange and so on. TORRENT server rece ives instructions sent by the server, according to the instruction content re lat ed operations,combi ned wi th the ac tual situation modify, add, or del ete user information videoprograms; timel y response to the s erver sends a request to improve the sta bility of the network system t o enabl e it to function properly.To some degre e, this syst em me et the unique ne eds of VOD systems such as interactive and asynchronous, and ma ke up for the inadequacies of the c urrent streaming media medi a system, such as hete rogeneous network, node select ion, real-time performance of VOD system, fra gment selection and node r andomness. The prac tic al application of t he BT protocol in VOD system, which make full use of i dle resources in the network as much as poss ible to improve downl oad speed, support large-scale conc urrent users. However, the system could be improved i n terms of stability and handling unexpected events.
