Highway is one of the most important transport facilities, is directly related to the development of the national economy. In recent years, China’s rapid development of highway construction, highway mileage has increased year by year, the road network density increasing, the amount of information highway and its ancillary facilities has become more and more. The management of highway are still using the traditional method in many parts of our country, the management level of the road has been far from meeting the needs of the development of modern road construction. According to the characteristics of highway itself space characteristics and geographic information system data management, geographic information system(GIS) is introduced to the highway administration is represent the general trend, using GIS technology to realize the data and graph display, query and analysis, data visualization, and provided a new decision support method for highway management and Volkswagen, which greatly improve the highway management level, and provide a more scientific means for the realization of the computer management of highway.First, the construction of highway management information system is to adapt to China’s current highway construction and the demand for infrastructure construction, highway data in a geographic information system concept and management of mass, improve management efficiency and accuracy.
