Wireless sensor networks research includes modern microelectronic technology, the system SoC chip design technology, nanotechnology, wireless communication technology, computer network technology and so on. It can achieve integrated and systematic networking, especially low power design. The fundamental problems of sensor networks are deployment and coverage, localization, and networking protocols. And localization and tracking are the precondition of many applications of sensor networks, such as target identification and surveillance, etc. On behalf of the wireless sensor network technology, ZigBee wireless communication technology is a communication technology for low-cost device. It has brought a tremendous change to the field of wireless localization with its low-power, low-cost, distributing and high reliability characteristics.The research in this paper focuses on location technology of wireless sensor network, especially on indoor location technology. Some work has been done as follows:the structure, the main characteristics and the application of wireless sensor network are discussed comprehensively; the characteristic and the sensor node location technology of wireless sensor network indoor location system are studied systematically; the location algorithms of typical indoor location system are analyzed thoroughly. The target tracking algorithms based on Kalman filter are analyzed. The processing method is put forward when Kalman filter state is bad. The article analysis the structure of physical layer, MAC layer, network layer, application layer, data transmission form and network structure. A localization and tracking system which use RSSI-based location technology and combine with CAN bus communication technology is putforward.Based on the theoretical study, the indoor sensor node localization and tracking have been completed in experimental platform. The result of the experiment demonstrates that the system has the characteristic of highly real-time detection, strong adaptability and high precision, etc, which can achieve the demand of indoor localization and tracking.
