Simulation of cloth and accessory for virtual human has been applied in a wide variety of areas, ranging from 3D animations, films, online games and clothing industry etc. Virtual human’s dress consists of two components:clothes and accessories. However, it is too time-consuming to obtain a complex character with accessories through manual modeling. Moreover, existing cloth simulation approaches are mainly focusing on single-material cloth which may cause lack of reality. A new method for automatically rigging accessories to human model, and together a new approach to solve multi-material cloth are proposed to generate simulation models with high sense of reality.The main work of this dissertation can be listed as follows:(1) Existing cloth and accessory simulation approaches for virtual human are summarized, and the advantages and disadvantages of the current methods are analyzed and discussed.(2) A method for automatically matching accessories to virtual human is put forward. Firstly, simple skeleton is assigned to the accessory model and then several anchor points are settled on for the accessory and virtual human after automatic rigging skeleton for human model. Finally, the matching algorithm is executed to achieve the total model.(3) An interactive cloth simulation method is presented to exhibit the different phenomena of cloths with multi-material. Cloth style design and is done firstly, then cloth material design is performed through a material library. Finally, the dynamic details of the interactions among cloth, human and external forces are simulated.(4) Prototype system platform is designed to conduct experiments and analysis. The character is dressed with cloth and accessories and driven through skeleton embedding technology to show the dynamic details. The results show that the proposed approach can generate virtual characters with good diversity and high reality.
