In this dissertation, a new 3D Earth platform using the GPU Tessellation technology is implemented, and the key issues of storing/rendering problem of Global high-resolution satellite image data and terrain data is studied. Through detailed experiments and data analysis, the correctness of this method is proved.The main work of this dissertation can be divided into the following four sections:1) The background of the problem is presented and the research status at home and abroad is introducted.The exitsting globle gridding methods  large-scale terrain visualization methods and float pricition problems is described.2) The newer OpenGL 4.0, Shader Model 5.0 GPU technology is utilized as the basis for global raster data rendering. The global scale seamless LOD terrain rendering is solved by GPU Tessellation.3) The global scene rendering low accuracy in single-precision floating-point image problems caused by jitter and tear is solved by Using the dynamic coordinate system and the logarithm calculation method. Experimental results Prove the effectiveness of the proposed method.4) A 3D Earth system based on GPU Tessellation technology is builded, the main framework and the key modules design method of the system is given.The method mentioned above is applied to the system and good rendering results are obtained.
