Currently, virtual reality application is widely used in many fields, such as3Dgeographic information system, digital city system and so on. At the same time, therequirement of realism and the accuracy drawing of topographic data in the virtualscene is growing, the need of terrain data is growing exponentially. When the terraindata to be loaded over the computer’s load performance, the speed of terrain renderingwill decline, the rendering effect will be worse. This thesis takes the data managementand visualization technology as a breakthrough point. According to the requirements ofrendering visual lossless for large scale terrain, it mainly carries on the analysis and theresearch around the two aspects: the level of detail terrain selection scheme and themotion path prediction.1) Increasing the motion vector, the observation vector and thefluctuation degree of the ground as the judging factors to achieve fast rendering oflarge-scale terrain;2) Combining the view frustum clipping with the viewpoint basedprediction method to reduce the computational load of real-time and stability of terrainrendering. The experimental results show that these two schemes can have a betterreal-time drawing and the stability of frame rate changes in the process of terrainrendering.
