Nowadays, infrared technology is becoming more and more important. It has been used in both military and civilian fields. Infrared imaging system has become a major application of infrared technology.When to design an auto-focusing infrared system, there are several problems need to be solved. First of all, infrared images are different from normal pictures, data has to be modified if people want to make infrared pictures useful. Secondly, data transmission is very important for an imaging system, it is necessary to make sure image data is transmitted correctly. Also, it needs to be testified whether focusing evaluation function of normal pictures can be applied to infrared pictures. Based on these three issues, this paper found a way to realize the auto-focusing method of infrared pictures, solutions are as follows:First, this paper studied the features of infrared pictures, illustrated the causes of non- nonuniformity, low contract rate and low signal-noise ratio in infrared pictures. Then the paper introduced commonly used algorisms of infrared pictures and chose which one should be used in this system.Secondly, data transmission of system is based on Internet, so a high transmission rate and high transmission accuracy are crucial. In order to reach these two goals, the paper designed a data transmission algorisms.Thirdly, this paper discussed how to realize the auto-focusing feature of an infrared picture and found a solution based on three core issues: finding a proper auto-focusing evaluation function, finding a way to choose focus window and finding a way to control the len.In the end, this paper designed a system based the conclusion above and realized all the functions of the imaging system. The software this paper designed can be used on Windows OS. Microsoft Foundation Class(MFC) was used for software development. The IDE which was chosen to design the software was Microsoft Visual Studio 2005.
