Broadband analog optical fiber transmission system compared with conventional coaxial cable transmission system has a huge advantage, and get the world wide more and more attention. Its features include light quality, small volume, low loss, high bandwidth and strong ability of anti-electromagnetic interference, etc. Especially in the airborne, shipboard and spaceborne environment which are the narrow space, the advantage of its application becomes more apparent. Broadband analog optical fiber transmission system is a combination of microwave and photonics, belongs to one of the important contents of microwave photonics. For broadband analog optical fiber transmission, the system research focused on how to improve its gain, and decrease noise figure and improve spurious-free dynamic range, especially how to improve the spurious-free dynamic range. Therefore, in this thesis, the broadband analog optical fiber transmission system based on the phase modulation and SSB system is studied to improve the system performance. This thesis research work is divided into the following four parts. In the first part, we point out the research background and significance of the analog optical fiber transmission system, and also analyze the research status both at home and abroad, and some research results are investigated and discussed. In the second part, we mainly study the model of the analog optical fiber transmission system, and discusse the main device and the main performance index in the system, and that provide the theory basis for the study in the behind. In the third part, the phase modulation and SSB system are mainly studyed. First, the various performance indicators are analyzed in theory and simulation analysis of the influence of system parameters on them are carried on, and this provide the basis for the design of the system. Secondly, the influence of the center carrier suppression in the phase modulation and SSB system is carefully analyzed, and the optimal center carrier suppression ratio is obtained by theoretical analysis and experimental verification, to gain the best system noise figure, gain and spurious-free dynamic range. In addition, the new thinking for high linear analog optical fiber transmission system of the dual-parallel phase modulator based on wavelength division multiplexing(WDM) system is put forward, a 7 dB enhancement of spurious-free dynamic range is obtained by theoretical analysis and experimental verification. Finally, a 2-6 GHZ low noise microwave amplifier is designed, through the simulation analysis, validate the amplifier can effectively meet the requirements of indicators. In the fourth part, the experiment research of the phase modulation and SSB system is given. The phase modulation and SSB system use the advantages of the phase modulator and can reduce the influence of the dispersion of the fiber. By testing the various performance indicators, we found that the phase modulation and SSB system can achieve the ideal performance in the case of losting a sideband information, providing the experimental basis for later study.
