The rapid development of the Internet has brought enormous changes to people’s production and life. The emergence and popularity of digital media provides a solid momentum and broad prospects for the development of Internet technology and applications. And the image information is most important information of the digital multimedia and Internet. However, due to the openness of the network, the secure image transmission is subject to certain threats. Therefore, the image encryption technology has become an effective way to protect the transmitted image method.In the paper, we describe the research value and significance of digital image encryption at first, and introduce the existing image encryption schemes and the image encryption of current research. Then we make a detailed introduction on the chaotic theory and theoretical basis of the DNA code; Second two common chaotic maps is introduced, which are Cat Map and Logistic Map. Then we descript detailed and simulated by the MATLAB which based on the double chaotic image encryption algorithm of Cat Map and Logistic Map. We compared with the traditional image encryption algorithm by the instructions of encryption key spatial analysis results, histogram analysis, correlation analysis. We can know that this algorithm has the good effect of encryption and decryption. Third an image encryption algorithm based on Cat Map and DNA code is presented. This algorithm is safe, reliable, simple and easy. We proved that this encryption system can also be well resisted statistical attack by performing histogram analysis and relational analysis and other tests. We found that this encryption system can also resist differential attack by the research analysis of the NPCR and the UACI. This paper basically meets the requirements of image encryption technology that has the large keys, can resist the statistical analysis and operate offensive. Then we compare this encryption algorithm with the image encryption algorithm based on Cat Map and Logistic Map, and we proved that the method which combines DNA encryption and chaotic maps can encrypt the image more efficiently and safety.It has carried out simulation experimental and security analysis for each algorithm, and compared with the existing encryption schemes. The results of experiment and comparison show that these proposed algorithm2 can get better encryption effect. For example the secret space of algorithml isS≈2.262×10106, the secret space of algorithm2 isS≈6.28×10140, it proves that algorithm2 has a wide secret key’s space, strong sensitive to secret key. In addition other dates have the ability of resisting exhaustive attack and statistic attack. So chaotic systems and the algorithm of DNA computing has better affection, which is equivalent to that, the encryption system has the double insurance.
