With the popularity of smart phones, tablet computers and other mobile devices, the integration of Internet and mobile network has become the development trend of future network. Due to the difference of network, Internet and mobile network form heterogeneous network integration. Network integration brings very much convenience for web users as well as serious security problems. With the further integration of Internet and mobile network, the security threats in traditional Internet have gradually spread to heterogeneous networks. The diversity of heterogeneous network terminal nodes, the complexity network structure, and the weakness of security deployment in heterogeneous network provide opportunities to worms, Trojans and other network virus. Considering the security problems and characteristics of heterogeneous network, we designed a kind of new worm called variant worm. According to the simulation results of variant worm in heterogeneous network, we provide some advices on defense.We construct a heterogeneous network integrated by computers and mobile intelligent terminals in order to make a deep analysis. Different from traditional computer networks, heterogeneous network has the characteristics such as: diversity of terminal nodes and complexity of network topology. We construct the heterogeneous network based on scale-free network model and analyze the effects of different node proportion to the network topology.With the characteristic of worms that infected mobile intelligent terminals, worms will expose themselves early. The paper provides a new kind of worm called “variant worm” which can mutate itself into new forms to implement a secondary propagation and extend the existence time in the network.The simulation results show that, the type of node affects the network topology and the network topology affect the worm propagation. In order to ensure the reliability of simulation data, we draw conclusion on the basis of multiple simulations and analyze the worm propagation in heterogeneous network. Combined with the development trend of future worm, we provide defense suggestions.
