Because of the continued growth of load, and the more stringent environmental regulation, as well as the expansion of the grid scale and the increasing complexity of wiring structure, a variety of uncertainties that affect the stable of power grid have increased, there is also the risk increase of accident caused by fault, at the same time, the influx of massive fault information bring difficulties to restore the power timely and effectively. Therefore, the establishment of fault analysis and decision support system in the substation has become an inevitable trend.Firstly, this dissertation analyzed the existing fault analysis system, then expounded the main structure of the system, and on the basis of analyzing the demands of the substation, the structure and functions of the system was designed.Then, this dissertation explained the COMTRADE 99 and its application, explained the related algorithms and the scheme of information fusion. This dissertation also expounded the software design and exploition of the fault analysis system.Finally, this dissertation expoited the fault analysis system based on Visual C++ 6.0 and SQL Server 2008, and a real power grid fault of Erdaojiang substation in Tonghua Jilin province was used to verify the practicality and effectiveness of the system. The system provides good and practical assisted analysis functions for the dispatcher personnel and protective personnel.
