LAMOST (Large sky Area Multi-Object fiber Spectroscopy Telescope) is a large optical telescope designed by China independently. LAMOST has received hundreds of thousands of spectra since it was officially put into use. And it has made tremendous contributions in the field of large-scale optical spectrum observation and large field of astronomy research. The fiber positioners’controlling system of LAMOST is a complex system which is responsible for all operations associated with the controlling of the fiber positioner. It is an important part of the whole LAMOST system. It will affect the positioning accuracy of the fiber positioner and ultimately affect the quantity and quality of the spectrum acquired. This article will introduce the design of the fiber positioners’controlling system using multi-process. According to the different types of work handled by the system, the whole system is divided into four parts:the core module, the displaying module, the underlying communication module and the position detection module. The core module is mainly used for data processing and process organizing. The displaying module is used to display the location and status of the fiber positioners. The underlying communication module is used to communicate with the lower computer and control the fiber positioners. The position detection module is used to detect the position of the fiber. Each module can be run as a standalone program and implement the specific function. At the same time, two or more modules can process specific tasks by working together. Compared with single-process based system, multi-process based system is more robust and easier to expand. Especially when there is a new control theory or new method of measurement need to be tested, the multi-process based system is more convenient for modifying and debugging.
