Massive open online courses, which as known as MOOC, is very popular in recent three years. MOOC’s positioning at present are basically for users worldwide, the small scale MOOC has not been developed yet. The purpose of this thesis is to build a lightweight MOOC platform, which would meet the requirements of a school, a city or a province on online education platform. In order to achieve this goal, according to the analysis of the platform itself, this thesis chooses edX platform as the research object, to understand the platform’s architecture and the operation principle. On this basis, this thesis studies the peer assessment system and the load forecasting method in short term.First, this thesis compares the advantages and disadvantages between different MOOC platforms, making an in-depth analysis toward the concept and characteristic of MOOC. Considering the re-development characteristics of edX platform, this thesis chooses edX as the research object. And then, this thesis analyzes and studies the basic structure of the edX platform, understands the operating mechanism from the relationship between the function of each module and each other, having a deep understanding of edX platform. In the order of top to bottom, big to small, this thesis studies the overall architecture, main module, file structure and core functions. According to the fact of online education platform that the submit work number is far greater than the traditional teaching mode, this thesis discusses and studies the students peer assessment system, realizes a solution which has high reliability and accuracy. In addition, considering the actual application of lightweight MOOC, this thesis studies the load forecasting method, designs a model that can provide an accurate prediction of future short term, reduces energy consumption, in line with the spirit of Protect environment policy. Based on the existing research results of the study, this thesis puts forward new ideas, and completes the innovative research.This thesis realizes a lightweight MOOC platform based on edX, by means of cutting and re-developing the function, having the essential functions of online courses platform, basically meets the social needs of a lightweight MOOC platform.
