Transmission network is the direct bearer of various telecommunication services. It isthe core of the entire telecom network. The design of local transmission network is veryimportant to the planning of telecom network. With the development of3G/4G services andbroadband access technology, local transmission network need to carry more and moreservices. In order to adapt the rapid growth of data service and broadband service, theexisting local transmission network should be optimized and upgraded.Local transmission network can be divided into three layers, namely the core layer,convergence layer and access layer. The core layer facing large bandwidth needs and flexiblescheduling of large particles service. Convergence layer and access layer are facing theaccess and processing of multi-service. Local transmission network which constructed basedon MSTP technology can meet the needs of bearing multi-service in the early constructionstage, but with the development of IP-based services, local transmission network should bedesigned and planned based on OTN and PTN technology.This paper analyzed the research status of local transmission network, and introducedsome transmission technology, described the realization and principle of OTN and PTN indetail, completed the design of cable line in local transmission network expansion andoptimization.Specifically, this paper mainly completed the following works:(1) Analyzed the development trend and research status of local transmission network,completed the discussion of transmission technology in local transmission network, obtainedthe advantages and disadvantages of every transmission technology, laying the foundationfor the selection of transmission technology in local transmission network design.(2) Introduced the principle of local transmission network construction, guiding the planand design of local transmission network in XX city.(3) Introduced the classification method of optical fiber and cable. Described thecharacteristics and application environments of different optical fiber and cable, combinedwith the geographical environment of XX city and the needs of the project, completed theselection of optical fiber and cable.(4) With analyzing the present situation and the needs of local transmission network inXX city, selected the local transmission network equipment. Designed local transmissionnetwork in XX city based on OTN and PTN technology. Combined with the current situationand demand of local transmission network in XX city, completed the optical cable linerouting scheme and the design of optical cable line in local transmission network.The content of this paper is a summary of the author’s work practice. The works inthis paper can provide a theoretical basis and practical experience for other similar project.
