Internet of things is an important component of the next generation ofinformation technology. It began in the1990s. After20years’ development, ithas become a relatively complete and mature technology system. With theemergence of different types of sensors, IOT has been used into agriculturalsystem, which makes the agricultural production become more convenient. Inthe north of China, it is more widely applied to the vegetable greenhouses,which can help people master the change of environment in the greenhouse.We have designed an intelligent system which is based on the IOT. A largeamount of technology has been used in the system, such as ZigBee Network,web Technology and so on. With this system, we can observe the environmentalinformation in the greenhouse (Such as air temperature and air humidity). At thesame time, we can also operate the equipment through the system which isdeployed on a computer or a mobile phone. During the process, we fullyunderstood the requirements and methods of the control equipment. Then wedesigned and implemented a primary and intelligent control subsystem. Inorder to implement the disease and pest diagnosis subsystem, we have fullyreferenced existing methods, visited the experts and extracted the maincharacteristics of the crops’pest and disease. After a series of tests, it proved thatthe system could be well applied to the greenhouse.This paper includes four parts:1. establish a monitoring system of intelligent vegetable greenhouses basedon the Internet of ThingsThe system includes two parts: web system and Android mobile phonesystem, the web system is based on browser/server architecture. We can observethe environmental data in the greenhouse through the monitoring system. Andwe can also control the equipment through the system. The using of intelligentcontrol is also possible. And if we need, the system can also control the equipment intelligently.2. establish a platform to manage vegetable greenhousesThe platform can take the expert system, intelligent decision-making andother new technology into the greenhouse vegetable cultivation. It can providean intelligent decision for manager. This platform includes a database about theknowledge of greenhouse vegetable production, the management of the dynamicenvironmental information and so on.3. establish a vegetable disease and pest diagnosis subsystemDrawing lessons from the existing methods of disease and pest diagnosis,we use the binary tree to achieve the function of the multi-branches tree duringthe process of the realization of the subsystem. During the process of theestablishment of the expert database,we extracted the main characteristics of thedisease and pest from the experts The users can manually choose the type ofcrops, the part of diseases and the characteristics of the pest. After diagnosis, itwill match with the expert database and the corresponding diagnosis will begiven to the users. It will give users the potential threats and treatment in theform of graphics display.4. establish a management subsystem of communications serverBy using the technology of New IO, the subsystem can support theconcurrent access by many users. It has implemented the communicationprocessing among the parts of the component system. It can receive the dataand instructions from modules, and then send these data or instructions to theproper component.
