Along with the growing requirements of people for the high speed, high quality and multimedia business in communications industry, the necessity for increase of the band utilization rate and system capacity in wireless communication system gets more and more imperious. And it is the technology of MIMO-OFDM that play the important role of a data transmission solution for B3 G, 4G and 5G communication, having been as a hot spot in research of communication. And the channel estimation techniques of MIMO- OFDM system is the crucial link of system to achieve good communication, because that the channel estimation performance is good or bad will directly affect the information transmission quality of system. In this paper, the main research content is MIMO- OFDM channel estimation techniques of the system.Firstly, this paper introduces the development of the wireless mobile communication technology and the development background of channel estimation technology for MIMO- OFDM systems, briefly sums up the classification method of channel estimation technique, and then studies several kinds of channel model commonly used in wireless communication and MIMO technique and OFDM technique, basic principle and characteristics of MIMO-OFDM systems.Secondly, in this paper, the core technology of channel estimation of the MIMO-OFDM system has been carried detailed research and analysis. The author introduces several commonly used ways of pilot insertion, the time domain and frequency domain channel estimation technology of LS for the MIMO-OFDM system in detail, and the simulation results are given. Aimed at the shortcoming of the LS channel estimation technology, this paper introduces the MMSE technology and its improvement, simulation results and theoretical analysis are presented.Finally, on the basis of the above theoretical knowledge, the algorithm support, as well as the practical research of myself in the laboratory, I give the whole hardware simulation model of the MIMO-OFDM system with the SYSTEM GENERATOR and test each function module and waveform observations of the system.
