As our living standards improving, we are eager to build a safe, comfortable, convenient, environmental living environment. The system of smart home has been widely used to manage the household appliances for a tool, which linked all kinds of electronic appliances together by combining sensor technology and communication technology, so we can use conveniently mobile equipments to all information of household appliances wherever you are and whenever it is. So far, the forerunners of this field have made obviously achievements by exploring and studying in many aspects.This papers range from the server to home network, to all modules of home network, but all three aspects are redesigned in order to improve the performance. The network framework of Netty are used to improve the concurrent number of server, and the home network are constructed with the technology of Wi-Fi and Zig Bee, Wi-Fi are used to transmit data that is high definition and high rate, reverse to Zig Bee. In this paper, raspberry is used to exchange data between the network of Wi-Fi and Zig Bee.The module of the smart home system is divided into three parts, one is server, the other is gateway, and another is mobile client, communication of each other depends on the heterogeneous network that composes of Wi-Fi network, Zig Bee network, the Internet and mobile network. The Netty framework, which separates the module of communication from the module of business logic, is used to build server module, so we don’t care more about the communication between clients and server. In this paper, the server module supports the service to all gateways and mobile clients. As an access point of family information, gateway module exchanges information between the server and the smart devices.The procedure of smart home is deployed in the router system of Open WRT and the family information is acquired by raspberry. In this system, the HD streaming video directly transferred by raspberry and exchanged by Wi-Fi network, but the data of small bite rate in limited quantities is collected by Zig Bee devices and gathered into the raspberry. Server completes the request of the mobile clients and responses the results, but we do not take the development of mobile client into consideration.It is an essential module to entertainment for the current system of smart home, so the system must have the ability of transmitting data at the same time and at the same frequency. But the current router, which supports the IEEE 802.11 ac standard, only can service one endpoint at the same time, so we use router that support the standard of IEEE 802.11 ac in this system. The topology of Zig Bee network can be divided into three kinds, but we choose the mesh topology from the perspective of the loss rate of packet and the flexibility of network.The design and implementation of smart home currently has no uniform standards. In this paper, we make a new exploration of design and implementation of smart home from the system of server and network point of view. We also finish the module of server and gateway, the framework of Netty is used to optimize the server module. Finally, we make a simulation for the feasibility and applicability for the usage of CPU, transmission rate, and response time. The results show that the system has reached the desired design, and each module in the system has been adopted by enterprises, and achieved certain economic benefits.
