In the past dozen years, with the rapid development of information and communication technology, smart antenna array has attracted enough attention of the researchers and engineers. Antenna array is one of the most fatal components of smart antenna; it is a group of individual antennas used for transmitting or receiving radio waves that coupled together. Antenna array acts as a single antenna but has improved functions that single antenna cannot achieve. Antenna array synthesis issues are to construct antenna array with specific antenna radiation pattern by adjusting the parameters. Typical antenna synthesis usually employs Taylor method or other methods to decide the location, amount, current amplitude and phase of the antenna components, but those methods fail to solve the optimization problem when the antenna is complex, and has low degree-of-freedom while intelligent algorithms are widely employed in antenna array designing for their stability, randomness and global searching ability. This paper conduct a series of research about antenna array synthesis issue based on intelligent algorithms and finite element method, the contributions of this paper are:1.Research on mixed optimization algorithm. For the terrible performance of traditional synthesis methods while optimizing antenna arrays with increasing number of individual antenna components, people turn to rapid intelligent optimization algorithm. This paper lucubrate the classical genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization, and throws light upon a mixed GA-PSO method based on algorithm grafting. By taking advantages of mixing, the mixed algorithm extends the advantages of both algorithms. Meanwhile, this paper conducts experiments on parameter selection of algorithm to reveal the effects of parameters.2.Research on beam forming of doublet antenna array and micro-trip antenna array based on the traditional product principle of antenna pattern. This paper combines the optimization algorithm and basic antenna principle to investigate the difference between basic half-wave dipole antenna array and micro-trip antenna array, and compares the performance of various algorithms in rectangle beam forming and 30°cosecant beam forming.3.More accurate antenna radiation pattern optimization method. Typical pattern product principle does not consider the mutual coupling between antennas; this paper involves this factor in computing and works out an optimization component consisting of an optimization module and a fitness module to improve the accuracy with HFSS. At last, we complete 3 kinds of beam forming of micro-trip antenna array by employing this optimization component.
