In recent years, with the rapid development of mobile data services and smart phones, Shanghai Telecom CDMA2000 1x EV-DO network load continues to grow, showing a wireless connection characteristic of numerous connections in contrast to low flow. At the same time, the network connection establishment congestion times also increase sharply. The development of data services have raised a great challenge to network resources and performance maintenance, targeted network optimization is imperative.This article focuses on the intense conflict between the users’strongly growing demand for high-speed data services and the network resource bottlenecks of Shanghai Telecom’s CDMA2000 1x EV-DO network. Network optimization methods under the development of data services has to be studied.Firstly, the potential problems of CDMA2000 lx EV-DO network under the development of data services has been studied, summed up with network problem analyzing ideas and methods. The article analysis Shanghai Telecom CDMA2000 1x EV-DO network resource from the monthly trend, busy time, smartphone side, the service side and so on. It summarizes a load characteristic that the whole network load of Shanghai is not so high, but the resources of some sector-carriers have reached the bottleneck.Based on the network load characteristic, the article then studies targeted network optimization strategies, including Dormancy Timer optimization, RAB Threshold optimization, soft-handover parameter optimization, ColorCode adjustment, paging strategy adjustment, access parameter optimization and DO carrier border optimization, regional strategy effect validation has also been carried out. According to strategy effect validation, the study summarizes targeted strategies of sleep mechanism, load control mechanism, handover mechanism, planning mechanism, paging mechanism, access mechanism and basic optimization, the effect assessment methods of optimization strategies after implementation have also been summarized.The research results of network problem analysis methods and optimization strategies have been normalized into the Shanghai Telecom wireless network optimization center methods manuals, and was promoted by China Telecom to other provinces.
