With the development of the hardware technology and wireless network technology, People can use mobile devices (such as smartphone,PDA,tablet,etc) anytime, anywhere access to Internet services.Today,watching streaming video on the mobile devices has become a widely used wireless data services, the Extensive use of video and other multimedia services significantly enhance the mobile user experience, at the same time, rapidly consuming the phone’s battery.Large data transfer for a long time will severely shorten the cell phone battery life, impact on user satisfaction. Therefore, energy conservation for mobile streaming terminal is of great scientific research value.In this paper, we analyze the current situation of streaming media data technology, summarizing all existing transmission algorithms take reduce network congestion, increase bandwidth cache utilization as their goal, but did not take into account terminal power consumption. In order to increase the efficiency of energy consumption of streaming media data, extend battery life, research starts from the existing data transmission scheduling algorithms, discuss scheduling strategy based on energy optimization of streaming media data, this paper has carried out the following research work:(1)We summarize existing streaming media terminal energy-saving technologies, with emphasis on studying the impact of streaming media data policy on terminal energy consumption, identify causes of low efficiency of energy utilization of streaming media data.(2) To solve the low energy efficiency problem of wireless streaming media terminal, a new energy-efficient streaming media transmission control method based on dynamic buffer threshold adjustment (DBTA) is proposed. This algorithm adapnvely adjusts the buffer lower threshold of receiver according to the monitored network bandwidth and streaming media encoding rate information, making the size of the buffer space is more fit the current bandwidth and streaming media encoding rate, and improve the ratio of time of the terminal dormant, thereby extending the life of the terminal.(3) For the current fashion DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP, known as DASH) media streaming technology,Greedy algorithm for Adaptive rate selection aimed at improving bandwidth utilization, leading rate switch frequently, thus resulting expensive energy consumption problemTo solve the low energy efficiency problem of Greedy algorithm,we combine DBTA with DASH, propose a novel Energy-aware Adaptive Rate Selection algorithms(EARS) to reduce the frequency of rate change, at the same time reduce the terminal power consumption.Algorithm set a dynamic safe margin based on the current available bandwidth,unless the available bandwidth indeed bigger than current video rate,to improve the rate.(4) We designed and implemented the DBTA,EARS algorithm in the NS3 simulation platform, and verify the effectiveness of the above algorithm.For improving the energy efficiency of data transmission and prolonging mobile devices use time,This study provides new methods and ideas, research has scientific significance and value.
