Augmented Reality is the technology of integrating virtual information and the real world. First, it must find a special marker in the real scene, then according to the calculation it convert these markers to coordinate information. Finally, present the scene integrated virtual information to the users by digital displays. The additional information can help users understand the environment they are there, thereby enhancing the understand of the reality. The prospect of augmented Reality application is very broad and a typical AR system simply requires a display device and a video device.An AR system based on marker has many advantages such as high accuracy, low cost and so on. So AR system based on marker is very popular. The main purpose of this thesis is to implement a simple AR system based on QRcode marker. According to analyzing the result of characteristic of the augmented reality system, we develop this AR system with Direct X9.0b and Open CV SDK. The main works have three points:1) Introduce some basic information of Augmented Reality, and deeply research the technology of Augmented Reality. Because of there are so many technologies in AR, we summarise some advantages and disadvantages of these technologies.Finally we think AR based on marker is very suitable for development.2) We describe the main principle of marker-based registration and analyze some common marker-based AR system.Then introduce the principle of corner detection and analyze the characteristic of some corner detection algorithm. And propose a new corner detection algorithm. Experimental results demonstrate the algorithm is effective to detect the correct position of corners.3) Develop a QRcode marker-based AR system with Direct X9.0b and Open CV SDK.Use 3DMAX to create 3D models. Experimental results show that the system is running well.
