Target tracking technology is very complex, which consists of coordinate transformation, track initiation, data association and so on. Based on their difference in application areas, target tracking systems present various technical characteristics. After more than 50 years of development, target tracking has been widely applied both in military and civilian services. This dissertation makes an analysis of target tracking systems. The key results obtained from the researches of this dissertation are summarized as follows:1. With the analysis of the basic principles of target tracking, this dissertation introduces a new set of target tracking algorithms based on some measured data. This new methodology is an optimized method of Kalman filter data, which saves the time of the algorithm. Firstly this methodology conducts a preliminary filter on the measured data. Secondly, the Kalman filter and gate tracking are applied to the selected data. Due to the fact that Joint Probabilistic Data Association of the huge amount of data needs a lot of system memory, this dissertation presents an improved tracking method for a large number of measured data. This method uses partitioning and superposition methods to the measured data according to the distance from the measurement points to the carrier for a complete tracking results.2. The display interface of target tracking has been studied. This research displays the result of tracking target in plane position indication(PPI) and operating workstation displays(OWS) separately by MFC. The display interface can simulate the scanning process of airborne radar and show the results in real time.3. The radar demonstration system has been studied. This research combines the display interfaces of the target tracking and cognitive radar, and forms a complete radar simulation demo system with a certain scale.
