3D printing technology, as a new hot technology, which combine with information technology, mechanical engineering and material science, has been widely used in our daily life in various fields. From the standpoint of the computer, the core of 3D printing technology is the slicing process of 3D models. At present, there are two types of slicing software. One is the commercial software, another is the open source software. Commercial software is expensive and not general. It not conducive to the development of industrialization and the popularization of 3D printing technology. Open source software can slice, but the format of 3D models are in various, some of these can not be imported by open-source slicing software. In order to solve the above problem, the data conversion of 3D print model format and slice processing related technologies were analyzed. Using open source software to complete the slicing is put forward in the paper, and it solves the practical problems in the process of model slicing processing.Firstly, it introduces the principle of 3D printing and the research status of related technology at home and abroad in the paper. Secondly, it summarizes the related methods of 3D model of forward modeling technique and reverse modeling technology, and discusses the scope of application of different modeling tools and supporting data format, and the models are established. Thirdly, the detailed analysis of the STL, OBJ, PLY and AMF data format, which are suitable as a 3D print model data format, are analysized. Then it introduces the IGES, STEP and other common intermediate data format, and gives the methods of the other 3D model convert to STL model data format. Due to the STL model after conversion may produce errors, it discusses the method to repair these errors. Analysis of the slicing algorithm, STL model and CAD model of the original slice contour optimization method and data processing technology based on level. Finally, to the actual model as an example, using open source software Cura to complete the slice experiment, and the existing problems and shortcomings in the processing of slice data are analyzed, improvement suggestions were put forward for the two time in the on the function of development.
