In wood products manufacturing process, production process planning is usually a complex problem. Due to fast changes of orders needs and uncontrolled natural random defects of raw materials, it’s hard to fast get products raw materials cutting parameter and accurate cuts plans using process general planning model. For material loss in wood toy manufacturing initial cutting process and difficult unit cost forecast issues, this paper designed a wood products material automation cost estimate system to achieve fast recognition of products features and cutting parameters, and estimate its unit cost, providing support for enterprise production decision-making.The wood products material automation cost estimate system contains image processing module,material loss module and optimization module. Image processing is used to obtain products dimension size long(L), width(W) and height(H), then dimension sizes are submitted to material loss analysis module, it is used to calculate cutting loss in products forming process using various different of method, and calculate the wood loss percentage due to material self defects;Optimization module is to seek the lowest cost or minimum material waste cutting parameters and get the optimal cutting parameters after comparing and analyzing data from material loss module,then choose corresponding size sheet material.Product edges are obtained in the image processing module through image acquisition, image segmentation, edge detection and extraction technology means. The minimum frame parameters underdifferent conditions are achieved using the minimum bounding box(MBB) algorithm, then get the optimal cutting parameters(cutting length L and cutting area A) from a large number of parameters using fuzzy logic algorithms optimization module, finally focus the most suitable raw materials under this parameter getting minimum unit cost of the product and the minimum material loss, then through the cost estimating module calculate corresponding material losses and the unit cost.For natural random defects existing in the raw materials under objective existence condition,this paper proposed a method to determine cutting parameters using the fuzzy logic model. Tests showed that fuzzy logic method is better compared with parametric method and the regression model used in other enterprises and the stepwise regression model method can more accurately predict the product unit costs and material consumption.The execution module program source code was compiled using Matlab in this system.
