Active object localization system is difficult to guarantee the concealment and security. So much research emphasis has been attracted to the passive object localization system. Acoustic source localization system, which is a branch of passive object localization, has been widely used and researched. However, the existing systems have many drawbacks. Such as low accuracy, bad real time capability, narrow range of application and high algorithm computation problems. The development of electronic components and location algorithms are guaranteed to solve the problem. Hence, in this thesis, an acoustic source localization system based on uniform line array and narrowband conventional beamforming algorithm has been designed and implemented. high signal noise ratio circuits were used to improve accuracy. Pre-processing circuits were adopted to reduce the algorithm computation. The interchangeability of system widened the range of application. In this thesis, the algorithm which was applicable to the system was derived. The design of acoustic source localization system was elaborated. The system was composed of microphone array subsystem and signal processing subsystem. Including array module and pre-processing circuits module having filters and amplifiers, the microphone array subsystem achieves acoustic-electric conversion. Signal processing subsystem can be divided into two modules. The function of analog digital conversion(ADC) module which was the major module of the system was converted analog electrical signals to a digital signals. Implementing the ADC control and system management, Control and management module provided a running platform of algorithm. The performance of each module had been tested. The results show that the design meets the system requirements correctly. After algorithm simulations, the effectiveness of this algorithm was demonstrated. The hardware of system was proved to be effective in the sound acquisition experiments. The results of acoustic source localization experiments were given, which shows that the error of acoustic localization was 2°. The system implementing acoustic localization, data throughout ratio was 3.98 MB/s, had a high real-time ability and good stability.
