Study On The Political Socialization Functions Of Mass Media

The media not only has been integrated with some parts of our social life, such as politics, economy and culture, but also is shaping these fields. With the rapid development of modern information technology, the mass media plays a more and more important role in promoting the development of human society. In the contemporary era. China’s public have increasingly rich channels for political information. And with the huge social changes and many social contradictions brought by the social transformation, the public have an increasingly strong desire to express their interest demands and participate in social and political life. With the gradually deepening progress of the construction of social democratic politics, how to guide the public to correctly understand the existing political system and social political phenomenon, as well as to form relatively stable political attitudes in the process of concerning the governmental and political affairs for training the political personality needed by the society and realizing the social and political stability, has become one of the important problems faced by our society. Therefore.to study the political socializat - ion functions of contemporary mass media has important practical significance.In the paper, the related concepts, effects and functional theories of mass media were described and an in-depth analysis was made on one of its political functions-political socialization, to study the positive and negative aspects of the mass media’s function of political socialization. With using the data and the research methods of case analysis, study the elaboration of the political socialization function of China’s contemporary different massmedia (newspapers. T-V.broadcasting and new media), and the factors restricting the political socialization function was analyzed to find a way to solve this dilemma. I would like to contribute to the research on the way how the media plays its role in transferring knowledge, expanding political participation, achieving political communication and strengthening political guidance.
