Nondestructive testing is the detection technology emergence and development based on modern science. It uses advanced technology and equipment.It inspects and testes the structure, properties, state internal and surface of the tested object, without damage, not changing the physicochemical state detecting object case, and has high sensitivity and high reliability, in order to judge their continuity, integrity, safety and other perfonnance index. As an effective means of detection, nondestructive testing has been widely applied various fields of economic construction in our country, especially in ensuring the safety of the product quality and the use of special pressure equipment, nondestructive testing technology is particularly important. Ultrasonic testing is one of the five major conventional nondestructive testing technology, is the most widely used, the highest frequency of use and the quickly development nondestructive testing technology currently. Ultrasonic detection has the advantages of low cost, fast speed, high detection rate characteristics.This paper mainly expounds the ultrasonic testing of pressure vessel in use and evaluation method on defects. There are many methods of ultrasonic detection, each detection methods has certain characteristics, widely used in the detection of pressure vessel is pulse reflection method namely UT detection and TOFD ultrasound imaging detection technology. This paper mainly introduces the application of the two kinds of detection methods in the inspection of pressure vessel, evaluation method on defects.The mai contents of this paper are as follows:(1)Discusses the ultrasonic testing theory, expounds the principle and development of UT detection and TOFD detection technology;(2) Through several application examples of TOFD detection technology in the inspection of spherical tank, research on the technology problems application of TOFD detection to the pressure vessel; (3) Through several application examples of UT detection technology in the inspection of ultra high pressure crystal autoclave. (4) research on the technology problems application of UT detection to the pressure vessel.
