The farther range of visible light imaging system, the more distant target position can be found, often is the key factor to decide the success or failure to timely detect the target. Detection range of ascension leads to the target imaging in the patterns of the detector contrast will decrease. When a visible light imaging system just able to distinguish the target pattern contrast for the system of minimum resolvable contrast(MRC), so as long as measured by imaging system of MRC, can be calculated the range, and to evaluate its performance.In recent years, the MRC index is introduced in the imaging visible light imaging system to evaluate the quality of sensitivity, can well reflect the sensitivity of system resolution, by domestic and foreign scholars. This paper detection the low contrast target is based on the principle of MRC detectionThis paper designed an important device for detection of MRC-adjustable contrast target, and analyzed several important parts including integrating sphere, light source, the standard wheel, collimating lens and the attenuation sheet. We calibration the accuracy of adjustable contrast target. First, we test the uniformity of background integrating sphere and target integrating sphere by random sampling method and grey-scale map; Then we discuss the interaction between the target integrating sphere and background integrating sphere. Through the derivation, we obtained the relationship between contrast and brightness contrast. In this paper, the MRC of CCD camera measurement and uncertainty analysis have done.Because of errors in the MRC measurement process will bring the subjectivity of human visual characteristics, based on the unique advantages of phase consistency in image edge detection, this paper attempts to objective evaluation method using phase congruency edge detection of MRC design, and carries on the simulation experiment in matlab.This paper studied the range of action evaluation based on MRC. Simulation contrast between target and atmospheric attenuation. The range evaluation model is given and tested, proved the rationality of the range evaluation method based on MRC,which can also see the prospect of application of MRC detection widely.
