In recent years, with the gradual depenning of the concept of a harmonioussociety, pepole increasingly high emphasis on safety monitoring system. At thesame time, the image quality and real-time requirements of monitoring system isalso getting higher and higher. Because of the physical limitation of the sensors,andthe brightness condition, the image captured may have low contrast and lowdynamic rang. Because of this, in this paper, studied the image process method ofthe dyanmic range enhancement and contrast enhancement. In addition, due to thecontinuous development of digital electronic technology, the image processingsystem based on FPGA hardware platform has a great advangtageon processingspeed and real-time. Therefore,this paper has verfied the proposed image processingalgorithms based on FPGA, and has a positive signification for the development ofreal-time image processing system and the hardware design of new imageprocessing algorithms in the future, in which FPGA acts as the core.This paper first introduced the basic theories and methods of imageenhancement, focused on several contrast enhancement algorithms, such asautomatic contrast enhancement, histogram equalization principle. Analyzied theadvantages and disadvantages of histogram equalizaiton. Introduced the principleand algorithms of the human visual characteristics, improved the algorithm ofautomatic contrast enhancement, proposed the paramete adaptive daynamic rangeenhancement. Simulated the method on the VC6.0,and compared with the histogramequalizaiton algorithm. Get the advantages and range of applications of thealgorithm, and finds the limitations of the algorithm, it is easily distorted when dealwith the image that has a high average birghtness.Then, analyzed the parameters of the image processing algorithm, analyzed thecurve of the parameters by MATLAB. Find the reason for the limitation of thealgorithm, and adjust the parameters adaptively, solve the problem throughnormalized the graysacle, and do the validation through the image objective qualityevaulation criteria.At last, Simulated this algorithm on the software Modelsim SE and LatticeDiamond software platform with the Verilog HDL language, and do the verificationto the image processing algorihtm on the FPGA platform.
