Shi Jiazhuang signal and communication district is responsible for the management and maintenance of the regular functions of the ground signal, locomotive signal of the running train. There are more than 100 stations in control. Also, the distance of maintenance is more than 1000 kms. With the rapid developing process of China’s railways, the trains’ speed has grown faster and faster, the interval between shorter and shorter. Therefore, the demand for a higher standard for the outdoor equipment of railways is emerging. Once problems arouse, they should be immediately discovered, reported and solved. However, with the structure of the equipment becoming rather complicated as well as the experience difference existing among maintaining staffs, the faults usually remain to be unsolved, thus leading to much inconvenience to the working staffs in the district. Hence, it is in urgent need to establish a system which can report faults in time and tackle faults remotely. The mobile network is developing at such a speed that the signal have covered almost anywhere you would go and transferring speed of sounds, images, data and some others have improved a lot. Smartphones have become a crucial part of people’s daily life, by which the file transferring of images, sounds and other kinds of media is easily achieved.Aimed at the field requirements and technology development mentioned above, this essay makes a design and implementation of the remote fault management system based on smartphones. First, it introduces the research background, the states of arts of current domestic and international research and the main work involved in the research. Next, the techniques used in the system are expressed; Following are the analyses of the functions supposed to be fulfilled according to user requirements, as well as the system architecture, technique options and design on the main process, database and security scheme. Then, with the help of flow-process diagram, it introduces the server and the communication implementation between server and smartphone client. Also, the system makes some tests. Finally, it concludes a summary of the essay and an expectation on future work. The main functions and characteristics are as follows:(1) The system consists of server and smartphone client. The smartphone client fulfills the task of collecting information from fault spot and then induces a fault record with the help of characters, images, sounds, longitude and latitude and other formats, save it on smartphones in certain formats and upload to server. The server consists of 2 parts. One is established in the format of website, responsible for displaying the fault record uploaded by client to dispatching staffs and experts, who can make correspondent dispatches and solving schemes for fault tackling records. Also, the tackling suggestions can be pushed to the smartphone client users, instructing staffs to solve fault problems. The other part is WCF service, aiding smartphone client for the uploading of fault records and downloading of tackling suggestions.(2) The server website is divided into view layer, control layer, business layer and data access layer according to ASP.NET MVC framework, for the purpose of lowing coupling between modules. It encapsules common codes, which makes the codes maintenance much easier and strongly expansible. It uses j Query and z Tree for the abundance of the webpages display effect.(3) To ensure the security of the fault records which are transferred between smartphone client and server and saved in smartphone client, in accordance with the TF encryption memory card developed by the project team, it makes a design of corresponding calling interfaces, thus fulfilling the encryption transferring and saving of the fault records.
