Stereo video can represent clearly hierarchy scene depth information, which leads it to a lifelike visual perception and a strong visual impact. Compared with the 2D video, the stereo video has obvious advantages because of the immersive feelings in the fields of advertising media, medical treatment, education and entertainments and so on. However, the stereo contents are extremely deficient, which is, on the contrary, far behind the development of the stereo display devices. Stereo camera can generate 3D contents directly, but the production cost is tremendous and a higher requirement to the device calibration, scenes and post production. Then, three dimension modeling software often costs lots of human and material resources and a long production cycle.2D-to-3D conversion has the advantages of lower cost and higher efficiency. In addition, the present 2D videos are sufficient. Focusing on how to convert a 2D video to a 3D video, the main contributions of the dissertation includes:1. Propose a hole-filling method of adaptive 3D content generation based the temporal information of the video frames. Compared with the traditional and the-sate of the-arts, the proposed method is able to combine the spatial and temporal information for the hole-filling, which efficiently avoids the generation of artifacts around the hole. The high-accuracy filling is achieved and the stereo video quality is also improved.2. Propose a rendering method of stereoacuity-guided depth image based rendering. The nonlinear rendering is achieved which makes the reconstructed video to be consistent with the depth perception law of human visual system. The stereoscopic effect is enhancement and the visual comfort is also improved efficiently.3. A stereo video production system with real-time monitor function is set up. The system includes two parts of the production and the display. The reconstructed video is directly played on the stereo display device. In this case, the stereoscopic effect can be real-time monitored and adjusted. In addition, the system makes the 3D content generation conveniently and efficiently be possible.
