In recent years, the facility agriculture and precision agriculture has been the research focus and hot spot. Both of them emphasize the significance that crop growth and environmental information can be obtained in time, quickly, accurately and the data can be analyzed and processed intelligently. The traditional manual agriculture cannot meet these requirements. As a result, Researchers intensify the efforts on development of agricultural monitoring system (instrument). They also achieve good results. For example, greenhouse monitoring and control system, monitoring system of plant growth, soil moisture monitors, etc. Meanwhile, digital image processing technology is also applied to agricultural monitoring. Each system (instrument) has its own characteristics, they are highly targeted. However, their functions are relatively simple, fewer functions can be selected. Plant growth monitoring instruments can not monitor environmental factors, and environmental monitoring system can only monitor a few types of environmental factors.This paper designed a type of multi-function monitoring system for crop growth and environmental factors, which was on the basis of research progress at home and abroad, and combined with our ability to digest and absorb the design technology of Israeli PTM-48A plant photosynthetic physiological monitoring system. This system combined the characteristics of greenhouse monitoring system and plant growth monitoring system. It could monitor multiple environmental factors and crop growth information. This paper completed the following content.Firstly, this paper designed and developed a type of multifunction monitoring system for crop growth and environmental factors. The system can real-time monitor multiple environmental factors and leaf temperature. It can obtain crop images manually or periodically. The data and images can be stored in the SD card. The system can set up monitoring parameters and system parameters. The monitored data can be transferred to the upper machine software in time. Data reception software has a database query, can import data, upload data, and display curve. The obtained images can be uploaded to the computer by USB. Through image processing software analyzing, we can understand the situation of crop growth.Secondly, through testing and correcting the soil temperature and humidity sensor, air temperature and humidity sensor, leaf temperature sensor, we made the accuracy of sensors be higher, the measurements be more reliable, error value stable within the acceptable range.At last, we conducted field tests on the system with Israeli PTM-48A plant photosynthetic physiological monitoring system. The system achieves the purpose of safe and reliable, stable operation, and meets the requirements that the operation is simple, and can real-time monitor. However, there are some gaps compared with the instrument of Israel what the measurements of some system’s sensors.
