Cartography technology has developed to make map by computer from drawing by hand, and then to make map by the application of database. The main objective of this paper is to research a fast and unified, standard cartography technology, and expects to realize the cartography software can share in different industries depending on this cartography technology. To achieve fast, it must reduce the human-computer interaction maximally, avoiding wasting time by manual’s slowly operation, leaving as much work as possible to the program, thus saving the time; in order to realize the unified and standardized, that is the expression for various elements of the map products from same cartography software is consistent and meet the government’s standards, for example, in one scale, the expression symbol of the same object is only, it’s shape, size and filling color are exactly same, and this symbol meets the government’s standards for the object at the specific scale, that is the unification and standard. forming a technology of standardized cartography by database-driven, and then achieving the widely application of software, by expanding and improving the database, and improving the application interface. The life of software will be expended, if the national standards have some change in the future, we just need to modify the relevant databases, users can also modify database according to the specific circumstance, almost no longer need to modify the huge source code. To achieve the goal, this paper completed the following work:1, According to a completed map’s content induced mapping elements: the expression of geographic elements, elements of mathematics, auxiliary elements, geographical factors are expressed by symbols, colors and note, mathematical elements include: coordinate grid, reference system and auxiliary elements include: decoration elements and illustration.2, In order to realize the unified and standardized the cartographic products, established the symbol library, notes style library, coordinate framework library, decoration elements library, legend storehouse, and provides the standard for the selection of the elements in the mapping process.3, Using interface give standard information of mapping elements to the mapping data, and then get a completed and standard map, formed a technical of standardization cartography driven by database.4, The technical of standardized cartography driven by database is applied to the production of 1:1 00000 geological map, within a few minutes can be finished, symbols and notes, drawing frame, decoration elements, the legend five aspects are in line with national standards of the standard map.
